Seahawks with little time to get healthy, correct issues after loss to Rams

RENTON, Wash. (AP) — The starting quarterback got crunched. The starting running back didn’t make it through a quarter. The defense couldn’t get a stop in the fourth quarter and a dozen penalties only added to an overall miserable day for the Seattle Seahawks. As if the 17-16 loss to the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday wasn’t painful enough for the Seahawks, they have only three days to get healthy and make corrections before facing another divisional matchup on Thanksgiving night. And this one is without question more important, hosting San Francisco with first place in the NFC West at stake.“It’s just really a difficult team to deal with. But teams have figured it out. They have found them out and they were able to get them,” Seattle coach Pete Carroll said. “So we understand that. They’ve got three losses. We got four losses. This is a huge opportunity for us.”The Seahawks (6-4) believe quarterback Geno Smith will be able to play against the 49ers despite a contusion to the triceps on ...

The other difference, I thought, was their inability to make 3s in the second half,” Boilermakers coach Matt Painter said.Edey, a 7-foot-4 senior center, shot 8 for 16 from the field and made 9 of 10 shots from the free throw line. He also grabbed 14 rebounds and blocked three shots in 33 minutes.Lance Jones and Braden Smith added 13 points apiece for Purdue, which shot 54.5% from the field (18 of 33) in the second half. Jeremy Swayman deserved a better fate in Tampa on Monay night. The rest of the Bruins? Not so much.Swayman made a season-high 41 saves, but the B’s allowed a 6-on-5 goal with less than five seconds left in regulation and, on a bad change, Brandon Hagel won it on a breakaway goal to lift the Lightning to a 5-4 win at Amalie Arena. The B’s scored on three of the four shots they could muster in the third period and it looked like they would hold up.Charlie Coyle scored the go-ahead goal with 3:51 left in regulation. From behind the Tampa net, James van Riemsdyk fed Coyle for a one-timer that gave the B’s a 4-3 lead. But things got hairy after that. John Beecher took a high-sticking penalty with 2:20 left in regulation. The B’s killed that off and it appeared to have the game in hand but in the final seconds, Victor Hedman kept the puck in right at the blue line and Nikita Kucherov scored the tying goal with 4.8 seconds left to force overtime. In OT, the B’s n...
